Sacred Lotus
Dahabiya
Explore the secrets of ancient Egypt by sailing the Nile River on a colonial-style boat
The Sacred Lotus Dahabiya is a colonial-style boat that draws inspiration from the original designs of late 18th and early 19th-century Dahabiyas. This traditional sailing boat features a half-shaded sundeck, serving as the focal point. It provides an ideal spot to relax in a wooden deck chair and leisurely observe the passing landscape. Below deck, you'll find a pleasant living area, a salon, four cabins, and one suite. The cozy salon houses a small library stocked with books about the Nile and Egypt. With its comfortable sofas, it offers the perfect ambiance to unwind at the end of the day. Share stories, exchange experiences, read a book, or engage in a game of backgammon while savoring a Turkish coffee or a glass of Alexandrian wine.
Dahabiya Itinerary
Day 1: Luxor - Esna
Upon arrival, you'll be warmly welcomed and transferred to your dahabiya boat. Explore Luxor Temple and Karnak, immersing yourself in their captivating ancient grandeur. Enjoy a delightful dinner and spend the night on board, surrounded by the serene river.

Day 2: Esna - Edfu - Bisaw
Arrive in Esna and visit the impressive Esna Temple. Continue the journey to Edfu, where a charming carriage ride takes you to the magnificent temple dedicated to the falcon god Horus. This temple is not only the largest of the Ptolemaic dynasty but also one of the best-preserved in Egypt, adorned with intact paintings, inscriptions, and reliefs. Afterward, return to the boat and continue cruising to Bisaw Island, where the boat will anchor for the night. Take a leisurely stroll on the island and enjoy a delightful dinner by the riverbank.

Day 3: Gebel Silsileh - Kom Ombo - Herdiab
Embark on a visit to Gebel Silsileh, an extraordinary archaeological site and Egypt's largest sandstone quarry. This quarry played a vital role in providing sandstone for numerous temples in Upper Egypt. On the west bank of the river, discover a rock-cut shrine dedicated to the god Horemheb and seven other deities, including the local god Sobek. Take a scenic walk from the ancient quarry before continuing the cruise to Kom Ombo. Explore the perfectly symmetrical Kom Ombo Temple, dedicated to the crocodile deity Sobek in the South and the falcon god Horus in the North. This hilltop temple, built by three Ptolemies, is surrounded by a remarkable wall adorned with intricate reliefs. Return to the boat and sail up the river to the tranquil island of Herdiab for a delightful dinner.

Day 4: Aswan
Start your day with a delicious breakfast on board before arriving early in Aswan. Begin the day's exploration by visiting the breathtaking Philae Temple on Agilka Island, an enchanting sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Isis. Initiated by Pharaoh Nectanebo I during the 30th Dynasty and later completed by the Romans, it stands as the primary sanctuary honoring Isis. Continue the visits with the renowned High Dam and the unfinished obelisk. Aswan's abundant resources of shale, alabaster, and pink granite, unique to this region of Egypt, provided the building materials for pyramids, statues, and colossal structures created by the pharaohs. Marvel at the colossal unfinished obelisk, the largest known to date, standing at 41.75 meters. Afterward, return to the boat for a delightful lunch. In the evening, you have the option to attend a captivating sound and light show at the Philae Temple. Enjoy a scrumptious dinner on board and spend the night surrounded by the tranquil ambiance of the Nile.

Day 5: Aswan
Enjoy a free morning in Aswan, giving you the opportunity to explore the town at your own pace. In the evening, indulge in a delectable dinner and spend the night on board the boat, surrounded by the calming flow of the river.
